Hedge folded his ears back against his skull, sour expression on his face. It was a dismal day, grey and cold, with rain cutting through the air in sheets. The stuff had a habit of burrowing into his fur, making the Rajati male cold and irritable. He was used to warmth, or somewhere to get warm. Instead he was out here in the freelands, scouting, like Cadenza had asked.
Scouting! As if he were a sentinel or something. He was a spy, goddammit. Well, that was probably the point. He shuddered, pausing and moving closer to a massive tree trunk in an attempt at momentary respite. He sighed, disgusted with himself.
It wasn’t Cadenza he was angry with, not really. She had every right to ask him to do his job. It was himself he was irritated with. And the weather, to some extent. He’d never chosen to be a spy. It had been chosen for him. Yes, it was what he was best suited for, and what he wanted, but he hated himself for wanting it, for the fact that deceit came so naturally to him.
Sitting back onto his haunches, Hedge glared out at the landscape, drenched to the bone and trying to think. Perhaps he could find shelter somewhere out here. Maybe with one of the other packs? But no, Caden wouldn’t want him to join a pack, not yet. Maybe with some other loner? Again, no. He wouldn’t know where to find any. He stood again, suddenly caring little about the rain, and began to pace, stirring up blackish mud with his paws.

Khaos shivered. It wasn't like him to get cold, especially since his coat was about a good two or three inches thick, but for some reason today, he did. Icy droplets of rain hit his nose and clung to his damp fur, making the tremor inside him all the more violent. The male was standing, front paws together and slightly leaning foreward, looking over the vast and barren plains. His multicoloured eyes were narrowed to prevent any water from blurring his vision.
He'd grown so accustomed to the weather, that the chill of the rain sent him reeling back to relying on body heat for warmth instead of the hot sun. The male shuffled his paws, the thin film of mud on the ground making a quiet splash as he repositioned each paw.
What was he doing out here? He knew all too well that these were the only lands he'd be able to enter without getting in a pack fight, but why didn't he choose to go someplace dryer? Another shiver ran through his spine, interrupting his train of thought. It caused him to grind his teeth, signalling how agitated he was.
A sigh came from his ebony-lined lips. He twisted himself in a futile attempt to shake the water that weighted him down so. Lost droplets were soon replaced by new, colder ones. A growl emitted from Khaos before he began to move, ivory paws caked in mud. As he moved, he didn't notice the smell of another wolf that clung to the air, the water pouring from the sky drowning it out.

It was a cold misty day in the no man's lands. Kulays home for now, right now she was hoping to become a alpha, or find a pack to join. Sighing, Kulay looked out into what seemed like endless mist, and coldness. Stomach growling, Kulay hoped she would find something to eat for once today, but not being able to see very well where she was, she kept walking not knowing what lay ahead., or whom lay ahead.
'Just keep walking, you have to in order to survive.' Kulay kept saying in her mind over and over again. This was one thing that kept her going. With winter came less food, and less food ment Kulay had less energy, and was a very grumppy girl. Letting out another big loud sigh, Kulay entered where she had been many times before. Here there was not much mist, but icyy rain that stuck to her orangy thick coat. Even though Kulay LOVED the cold and winter, she did not like the icyy rain. It hurt when the wind picked up, and Kulay knew it would. She felt like there was going to be a storm blowing in soon.
Smiling, Kulay kept walking and thinking, slowly slipping into her own world. But right before she did, she heard someone, or something. Sticking her nose in the air to smell, the wind started to blow, making the scents blow away from her nose, making her unknown to what may be around her. Hoping that she was safe, and not in danger, Kulay bowed her head down, and pushed against the furious wind and rain hitting her at what seemed like full blast. Kulay started to think, ' Why did I come here? I know this is one of my favorite places that barly anyone comes to, but I could have found another place without this dumb wind or rain. Couldnt I?'

Scents greeted Hedge’s nostrils, mixed with the smell of wind, rain, and this inescapable mud. From the way the wind spun and swirled, the scents could have come from anywhere. One was decidedly female, a fact that brought the smallest hint of mirth to him. The other was masculine, causing his ears to flick back again in annoyance. No, no, no. He was supposed to be out here, talking and learning and reporting back everything to Cadenza. It’s what he was good at, what he’d been made for, what he’d chosen for himself even though he’d never have chosen it… this was leading nowhere. Might as well do the job.
And anyway, they didn’t smell alike. Clearly neither was with the other. Like a shadow, Hedge grinned and dashed off into the brownish grey wall of rain that obscured the sight. How peculiar, that rain mixed with mist here. It was like the clouds had become weary and set themselves down to rest.
Paws splashing through the watery sludge, Hedge wove around the area, doubling back and trotting to and fro until he found a set of prints in the mud. It just so happened that these belonged to the female, and so the Hegemon set off after her first, glad that providence had at least given him this small bit of fortune.
